People always compliment me on how “hard” I work and how I’m “always up to something”. Which is so hilarious to me, because anyone who knows me personally, knows that I’m always in my room, in my bed, taking a nap!
I am one of the most stress-free, carefree people, I know; yet, I still manage to be extremely driven and hardworking.
But how? Aren’t hardworking people supposed to be stressed, overworked, and sleep deprived?
Nope, that’s just what “they” WANT you to think.
I finished my third year in college as a full-time student (Dean’s list, at that!) while working a job, writing and editing an entire book of poetry ( only $7, purchase it here –> Kalopsia), starting this blog and launching my very own business(need an editor?)!
All while taking as many naps as I needed.
Here are some of the things I do to balance being a sleepyhead and a hard worker:
I often see/hear people talking about how they meant to lay down for a quick nap and ended up sleeping for hours or until the next day.
Oh, no baby, what is you doing???
I always make sure to set alarms for my naps and sit my phone far away from me so that I will have to get up and go turn it off (ensuring that I won’t go right back to sleep).
I allow myself 45-minute naps a session. And if I’m super tired, I will take a 45-minute nap, do some work, and then take ANOTHER 45-minute nap afterward.
May sound crazy, but it works for me.
“NO PHONE” TIME
I don’t use my phone before and after certain times during the day. Every single day I go by this rule, which ensures that I am completely focused on whatever it is that I am working on.
I get it done and then guess what…TAKE A NAP.
WAKING UP EARLY
If I wake up for school and work Monday – Friday at 6 am, that’s what I do on Saturday and Sunday too. The best thing about this is that when I wake up early on the weekends, it’s not so that I can hurry and get ready to leave the house. So, guess what? I sit in my pajamas and get whatever homework, writing, and other work done. Then I take my butt back to sleep. Or I go watch TV.
Whatever it is that I want to do.
I practice these simple habits faithfully. That’s why when people see all the stuff I’m doing and they think it’s because I’m overworking myself, pulling all-nighters, and stressing….. I laugh.
I’ve mastered finessing my 24 hour days,
AND YOU CAN TOO.
If you have any additional questions/suggestions feel free to contact me. I have a bunch of other things that I do too, I just didn’t want to make this post too long so if those options I listed don’t resonate with you feel free to contact me and we can come up with something else.
I truly only want you guys to reach your full potential.
Peace and blessings,
Let’s be friends!
